James Dexter Havens studied art at the University of Rochester and the Rochester Institute of Technology. Particularly well known for his atmospheric woodblock prints, Havens won awards in four Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibitions between 1939 and 1959. He served many years as director of the Print Club of Rochester.
